Metallic safety tags for beef and dairy cattle, available from ATQ

Agri-Traçabilité Québec (ATQ) is announcing that, effective October 27, 2017, cattle producers in Quebec will be able to order the Ketchum Kurl-Lock No. 2 metal safety tags that will carry the same last nine digits as the animal’s official tags.

ATQ would like to underline that these are unofficial tags and complementary to the regulatory tags. This identifier in no way removes the obligation for cattle producers to identify their animals with the two official bovine sector tags, which are the RFID-type electronic tag and the Ultraflex visual tag.

It should be noted that this additional tag must bear the same number as the official tags. When producers place their orders for metal safety tags at ATQ, a Customer Service agent will make sure that the numbers in their order correspond to the numbers that are already in their file, or that the order is matched with a new order of official tags.

Quebec producers can now make their traceability declarations using a new smartphone app

Quebec producers can now make their traceability declarations using a new smartphone app for Android mobile devices

Agri-Traçabilité Québec (ATQ) is pleased to announce a new application is now available. To provide agricultural enterprises with a user-friendly and easy to use tool, Agri-Traçabilité Québec developed the SimpliTRACE Mobile application which allows producers to make declarations directly from the farm with just a few clicks.

Offered free of charge, this new tool has been designed so that producers can access the entire list of identifiers associated with their file straight from their phones, reducing the risk of transcription errors. Easy to install, SimpliTRACE Mobile is compatible with all electronic stick readers sold by ATQ. The identifier numbers read by the electronic stick reader can then be uploaded in the SimpliTRACE Mobile application without the need to access another computer in order to make the declarations. It should be noted that all types of declarations can be made with the SimpliTRACE Mobile application.
